Assessment and Measurement-Based Care in Inpatient Psychiatric Settings
摘要
Although there is some evidence that inpatient psychiatric units (IPUs) can produce negative outcomes, measurement-based care (MBC) in inpatient psychiatry has demonstrated positive, lasting mental health outcomes. In this chapter, we outline the benefits of MBC, the routine collection and clinical utilization of patient outcomes data, to monitor and improve IPU clinical care. Further, recommendations are provided for future research and clinical initiatives that can augment ongoing efforts to improve outcomes including MBC-supported learning health system models, cross-culturally validated measures, and objective measurement.
