Developmental Considerations for Treatment Adaptations in Inpatient Mental Health Settings

Inpatient psychiatric units are tasked with modifying evidence-based practices, typically developed for outpatient settings, to be delivered in an acute mental health setting. This chapter will focus on developmental considerations of those modifications given the wide range of ages focusing on latency age youth, adolescents, and emerging adults. Additionally, content will address modifications and interventions related to the range of developmental abilities seen in patients on inpatient psychiatric units.
