摘要

Stroke is a major public health problem that disproportionately affects minoritized groups and those exposed to adverse social determinants of health (SDOH). Differences in risk factor control, disease awareness, care delivery, and care quality greatly contribute to racial and ethnic inequities in stroke outcomes. In this chapter, we present prevailing evidence relevant to stroke and cerebrovascular disease disparities and outline current strategies, knowledge gaps, and critical next steps to address inequities. Further, we suggest implementation strategies must consider SDOH to mitigate barriers systematically across the stroke care continuum for improved patient-centered outcomes.
