The Effect of Turbulence Models on Multiphase Flow Through Porous Media Simulation
摘要
We propose to study the influence of turbulence models and compare them in multiphase flow problems through porous media. In CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), it is important to use a turbulence model to predict the turbulent flow. For this purpose, two turbulence models will be studied, the standard \(k-\varepsilon \) model and the \(k-\omega \) SST (Shear Stress Transport) model. We used the Volume Of Fluid (VOF) model for the description of multiphase flows. This model solves the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations together with the volume fraction equation, the system of equations is solved numerically using the interFoam solver implemented in OpenFoam [16–18]. Subsequently, we performed tests on a dam break through a porous media. The aim of this study is to find the most suitable turbulence model to treat these problems.
