HERSE: Handling and Enhancing RDF Summarization Through Blank Node Elimination

The rapid expansion of digital data and its inherent heterogeneity present challenges in extracting meaningful information, particularly when dealing with substantial volumes of unstructured data distributed across diverse sources. Blank nodes, also known as anonymous nodes or bnodes, play a pivotal role in the Resource Description Framework (RDF) utilized in the semantic web. These nodes, which lack unique identifiers, are frequently employed in RDF/S knowledge bases to represent complex attributes or resources with known properties but unknown identities. This paper introduces an innovative methodology for the detection and conversion of blank nodes within RDF graph summaries. Our approach leverages centralized and decentralized Skolemization to transform these nodes into Skolem Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs), there by enhancing the clarity and interoperability of RDF data. By improving the accuracy and relevance of RDF summaries in relation to original datasets, we enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of subsequent queries against these summaries.
