Elderly People Motivations to Keep Playing Exergames: A Systematic Review
摘要
Regular physical activity, particularly through adherence to an exercise routine, has demonstrated consistent effectiveness in enhancing age-related challenges in older adults, including muscle weakness, cognitive performance, and mood. Despite the recognized benefits of exergames for the elderly, several challenges prevent their widespread adoption and efficacy. This study explores the barriers faced by older adults in engaging with exergames, focusing on factors such as tech savviness, peripherals, familiarity with game themes, design considerations, adaptability, complexity, physical preparation, and the importance of help and support. Notably, the lack of motivation emerges as a significant threat to physical activity in the senior population, making the design and implementation of engaging exergames crucial for their well-being. In conclusion, addressing these challenges is imperative for creating an environment that encourages and supports older adults in embracing exergames’ benefits, contributing to their overall health and well-being.
