The quest for sustainable and renewable energy solutions is driving a growing awareness in biomass valorization for biofuels, value-added products, and power generation. This chapter offers an overview of the latest developments concerning biomass conversion technologies and their potential applications. It explores various biomass feedstocks, including lignocellulosic biomass, algal biomass, and waste biomass, highlighting their potential as renewable resources. The chapter discusses pretreatment methods to enhance biomass conversion efficiency and explores production routes for biofuels such as bioethanol, biodiesel and biogas. It also focuses on the generation of value-adding materials from biomass, with an emphasis on platform chemicals and bioplastics.
