Enhancing Sustainable Vertical Farming Through Intelligent Automated Monitoring System Using Internet of Things (IoT) for Food Security

With the ongoing growth and urbanization of the global population, the importance of implementing sustainable food production practices becomes progressively imperative. Vertical farming is a potentially viable option through its ability to optimize spatial utilization and minimize resource usage. In order to fully realize its capabilities, vertical farming must use sophisticated technology. This work examines the incorporation of an intelligent automated monitoring system, utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT), into vertical farming techniques, with a major emphasis on augmenting food security. Through the constant monitoring and optimization of key factors, such as water quality, water levels, and the surrounding environment, systems enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT) provide valuable contributions to enhancing agricultural yields, quality, and resource efficiency. In addition, this technological advancement is in line with sustainability objectives since it effectively mitigates environmental consequences and diminishes dependence on conventional agricultural methods that are susceptible to the effects of climate change and limited resources.
