Learning Mitosis and Meiosis: Mobile Learning Application for Form 4 Students

Mobile learning refers to the usage of electronic devices such as tablet computers and smartphones, in learning across multiple context. It is one of the evolving areas especially in educational filed. The researcher has decided to construct a study on Biology Form 4 Chapter 6: Cell Division. It is a mobile learning application in which students learn about mitosis and meiosis, which includes an overview of the process as well as the stages that are involved in each phase. For the mobile learning material, there are learning, video, exercise, and mini game option. From researched, there were a few misconceptions students had in learning the concept of mitosis and meiosis that sparked the idea for the development. Consequently, the researcher hopes that the target user, which is Malaysian secondary school students between the ages of 16 and 17 years old, would get a grasp of the subject matter. This mobile learning application is available for Android users on the Google Play Store. The ADDIE model has been selected as the methodology for the development of this software application. The user needs to download the application using an internet connection in order to have access to it at any time and from any location. Based on the findings, the Learning Mitosis and Meiosis mobile application has proven to be highly effective in educating users about mitosis and meiosis and clearing up any misconceptions they may have had.
