Growth and Remodeling: Network Flow Analysis

  • Ghassan S. Kassab

摘要

A systematic hemodynamic coronary network analysis can be carried out to understand the structural (branching pattern, number of vessels, diameters, and lengths) adaptation to function (blood flow/perfusion). A mathematical model can be used to analyze the full coronary arterial circulation based on measured detailed anatomical data and laws of physics. A computer reconstruction of the coronary arterial branches can be implemented down to the capillary level in the of normal and diseased hearts. The detailed morphometric data (i.e., vessel diameters, lengths, and numbers) can be used to determine the flow, wall shear stress and pressure throughout the coronary vascular network in health and heart disease.
