Help-Seeking
摘要
This chapter focuses on men’s help-seeking or health-seeking behaviours for long-term conditions. I start by challenging the prevailing public narrative that men are worse than women at seeking medical help, suggesting that men and women may have different reasons for delaying help-seeking. I explore how men talk about engagement with healthcare services, their motivations for seeking help and reasons for delaying. Finally, I consider ways to encourage men to seek help sooner.
