Mortality

  • Caroline Flurey

摘要

This chapter explores the way men with long-term conditions talk about their mortality. This includes how the threat of mortality can act as a wake-up call to change health behaviours, and focuses on the issues men worry about when living with a life-limiting condition. The responsibility to be the protector and provider of the family often remains at the forefront for men, even when faced with their mortality. I also discuss the approach men take to talking about death from the dark humour used to deal with discussing difficult topics to the raw honesty about their fears of dying.
