Image Data

In this chapter, we present methods for working with images in R. We start by directly manipulating pixel intensities to study aspects of color. Then, we show how to apply out-of-the-box computer vision algorithms. Methods such as object recognition, face detection, pose detection, and image embeddings are shown and applied to a collection of historic color photographs.
