In the conclusion, I summarize the book’s main points, including some of the policy options that could make market democracy a reality within agriculture. I then restate the importance of working within international institutions, which some movements have neglected. I conclude with a discussion of why it is important to compare different cases, noting how thinking about the Soviet Union, the US, and the European Union together brings to the fore different modes of participation and values that inhere within market institutions.
