NGOs as Catalysts for Societal Resilience: Examining Their Role and Impact During Risk Situations

NGOs play a crucial role in collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, other NGOs, and communities, to coordinate actions to help those in need cope with risk situations. In some of their activities and communication, NGOs are the first that have the competencies to act in situations that are stressful and new for the specific group, community, or society. Since February 2022, when the war in Ukraine started, NGOs played an important role in helping vulnerable, displaced people in Lithuania. This publication indicates the role and competencies of NGOs for societal resilience. It presents the narrative analysis of communication on social media platform Facebook to indicate NGOs’ role in (individual, community and) societal resilience through their activities and communication during risk situations.
