Knowledge Management in IT of the Cypriot Public Sector
摘要
The most valuable asset in any public organization, is the academic and professional knowledge of its employees, also known as Intellectual Capital. However, organizations face the challenging task of capturing the knowledge of those employees who may decide to change department or approach retirement before it disappears. In other words, what happens when an Information Technology (IT) employee, who has been working in the public sector for more than 20 years, developing applications, maintaining them, and being solely responsible for his software, decides to change his job or retire? How easy is it for another IT employee to take over those tasks? This chapter examines the importance of Knowledge Management for the Public Sector and how it can be applied in IT-related areas.
