Textile Antennas for RFID Applications

This chapter gives an overview of antennas (especially textile-based ones) used for RFID applications. Nowadays, RFID has become a promising technology being used for asset and animal tracking, inventory management, supply chains, vehicle tracking, shipping, healthcare, manufacturing, etc. It uses electromagnetic waves to uniquely identify objects. Both active and passive RFID systems are discussed in this chapter. Various antennas are being developed for communication purposes for RFID Systems. 3D, 2D, conformal, and textile-based antennas are being developed based on system requirements. When we talk about conformal and textile-based antennas, the RF feed connection becomes a key, and it needs to be discussed. There are various issues in RF feeding into textile antennas. This chapter focuses more on textile-based antennas and their connection strategies after looking at their usefulness soon.
