Algorithmic Applications for Massive MIMO Technology
摘要
The advent of 5G and advanced wireless networks have demanded efficient wireless access technology that provides maximum throughput without increasing bandwidth consumption. Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology seeks to overcome the global bandwidth shortage in the wireless communication industry by combining antennas, radio, and spectrum to increase 5G capacity and speed. Although massive MIMO systems are associated with substantial multiplexing gains, beamforming capabilities that result in reduced latency, higher data rates, and reliable connectivity that accentuate its usage in smart sensors for different industries, it faces several issues as peak data rates rise exponentially. In light of these challenges that massive MIMO systems face, this work harnesses the intelligence of algorithms to demonstrate how they can be leveraged to produce specific advancements in 5G MIMO applications through an experimental overview. This chapter presents an application-oriented survey of how algorithms from each paradigm, namely, rule-based and intelligent learning-based algorithms, can provide intuitive solutions to widen the scope for developing massive MIMO technology and its broader usage for various tasks.
