Collection of Key Bioresponsive Materials

Smart materials are able to adapt to their environment, playing a significant role in various fields. Bioresponsive materials sense and react to biological signals, a fact which is very valuable in biological fields. Moreover, these materials can be used to create stimuli-sensitive systems. This paper aims to provide a collection of current smart biomaterials, therefore we have compiled a short list of research articles taken from the Web of Science (WoS) database. Materials, their properties, uses, and future research directions are included in the list. Along with other materials we have identified, hydrogel is a key material in the field, as it can self-heal, is electro-responsive, and can be used in drug delivery systems. However, we emphasize the importance of the hydrogel, and aim to simplify the material selection for specific applications.
