Cyber-Physical Penile Implant: Necessity or Premature Technological Risk?
摘要
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a problem that currently has many medical remedies, but in cases of last resort, penile implants are a safe and low-complication alternative. Currently, penile implants are purely mechanical gears, operated manually by the patient. The literature does not visibly mention any kind of electronic automation for such an implant even as a functional definition or future prototype. Considering the developments recorded by cyber-physical implants in specialties such as cardiac surgery, ENT surgery or even urological surgery, it is necessary to explore whether at the present time a cyber-physical penile implant can represent a safe benefit for patients.
