Polycaprolactone Nanofibrous Scaffolds as a Material for Vascular Replacements

This work characterizes polymer solutions and the nanofibrous structures produced by electrospinning The influence of mechanical and geometrical properties on the cell proliferation on each sample is evaluated. A total of six samples with different polycaprolactone concentrations in different solvent systems were prepared and spun. It was determined the viscosity of solutions, wettability of fibers using the magnitude of the contact angle of the sessile droplet. Geometric properties of the samples were obtained from electron microscope images. Cell proliferation on each sample was assessed by staining the nuclei and cytoskeleton and subsequent analysis of microscopic images. According to the results of all analyses, the sample with 16% PCL concentration seems to be the most suitable for cell proliferation.
