Cloudy Dialysate Effluent and Abdominal Pain in a Patient on Peritoneal Dialysis

Patients receiving home peritoneal dialysis (PD) presenting with cloudy peritoneal fluid are at risk of having peritonitis. Peritoneal dialysis-related infections are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in end-stage chronic kidney disease patients requiring dialysis. Early recognition and treatment are needed to effectively reduce this risk.
