Software for Laboratory Test: FARM-Framework for Activity Real-Time Monitoring

Finding the best drugs for certain diseases is a difficult challenge. To solve this, animal testing continues to be an option, yet following behavioral manifestations after administration of certain substances is tedious, time and attention consuming for experts. Different tracking software applications, from high-cost commercial services to open-source applications, are available. Yet, to have an interactive way of programming the tests, we developed our own new approach. Here, we propose a precise and easy-to-use new software tool for monitoring the zebrafish activity in a T-maze or in other aquariums. FARM “Framework for Activity Real-time Monitoring” is a simple and customizable tracking method that might be further adapted upon the user’s needs for rats, mice or other lab animals used in drug testing.
