Design of an Electronic Fall Detection Device for Orthopedic Walker Users
摘要
According to the clinical guide for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the syndrome of falls in the elderly person made in 2017 by the Ministry of Health of the Government of Mexico, indicates that the average annual rate of falls in age groups from 65 to 75 years varies from 15 to 28 percent in healthy people. Accidents are the fifth leading cause of death in the world, and falls are the leading cause of accidents in this group of people. In the search for walking aids, various walking aids have been designed to improve people's mobility. The people who use a cane constitute the largest group, followed by those who resort to the help of someone to travel and those who use an orthopedic walker. Many older adults often go about their daily activities alone, which poses a risk if they have an accident. A proposed solution is to create a device capable of monitoring the condition of a person who needs to use a walker to move around. By means of a dual-conditioning system, the user can be monitored in real time, and the support system can alert family members when a possible mishap is detected.
