Modeling of Noise due to a Plasma-Based Contactless Power Transmission System for Ultra-High-Speed Transportation

This paper studies plasma effects in the FluxJet, an ultra-high-speed vehicle being designed for transportation at aircraft-like speeds, running in a guideway between cities. The effects are studied relating two different systems: plasma-based power transmission used to power the vehicle at high speed, and RF (Radio Frequency) signals for vehicle communication and control. The effect of noise from the plasma power transmission is analyzed and modeled by a two-state Markov model. The noise is characterized, and by using a cost function, we observe that the noise states given by our model, are well matched with the measured signals.
