Different Packaging Methods and Materials for Dry Fish
摘要
Fish has been long preserved by drying, which is a process that removes moisture from the fish to stop bacteria and other microorganisms from growing and causing spoilage. Many cultures all over the world have been preserving fish for centuries using this age-old technique, particularly in areas without easy access to refrigeration. Because of its prolonged shelf life and concentrated flavours, dry fish is highly valued and is an essential food source in places where fresh fish may not be easily available. Furthermore, by preserving vital nutrients, the drying process improves the fish’s nutritional density. In order to satisfy contemporary consumer demands and address environmental concerns, the packaging of dry fish has undergone significant change. The main goal of packaging innovations is to maintain the traditional essence of dry fish. This chapter presents a thorough analysis of the ever-changing dry fish packaging market, highlighting the interactions between cutting-edge technologies, sustainable materials, and preservation techniques. For the packaging industry to remain successful and relevant as it transitions to a more consumer-focused and sustainable future, cooperation and continuous research into new packaging techniques and materials are essential.
