Mary Wollstonecraft

Best known for her Vindication of the Rights of Woman, Wollstonecraft was part of a radical milieu advocating the social and political transformation of Great Britain. She promoted both gender equality and greater class equality and developed theories for the education of children. Her writings have had a huge influence on subsequent advocates of women’s rights, especially in her native England and in the United States.
