Reflecting on the ontological capacity of print, of seemingly magically reviving or killing off real as well as fictional persons, the final chapter gathers the findings made in the preceding sections. Meditating on the malleability of truth and the workings of the accompanying “truth effects”, the last part of this study illuminates not only the afterlife of the Athenian Mercury but also its substantial legacy.
