Information Versus Communication

Information is what we broadcast, regardless of whether the recipient is present or understands. This information can be in images or words, spoken or written, but it is always unidirectional. The recipient of this information is theoretical and abstract even though it is present. The clearest example of information is the signs that indicate a building’s emergency exits; they are always there even if there is no one to see them. Communication, on the other hand, fundamentally focuses on the receiver’s understanding during the exchange of information. If information is unidirectional, communication is at least bidirectional. However, in practice, we will see that it is multidimensional, In the communication process, there is a signal (information or content), but there is also noise (distortion of the signal) and above all there are multiple channels of communication, of which the most studied are verbal and nonverbal. Good communication begins with the sender reflecting on what he wants to communicate and selecting the best way to do it at the most appropriate time.
