Conclusion

The Rohingya have experienced different forms of violence at different times and in different spaces. This chapter presents the summary of the book and explains the gender-differentiated forms of direct, structural, cultural, and symbolic violence experienced by the Rohingya in Myanmar and the camps in Bangladesh. At the end of this chapter, some recommendations are made to reduce gendered violence and vulnerabilities in the camps, such as introducing camp-based income-generating activities, strengthening refugee-led organisations, re-designing the Majhi system to include women, appointing women officials at the top level of refugee governance, and introducing ‘mobile courts’ in the camps to ensure gender justice.
