Formation of the Corpus Luteum
摘要
The corpus luteum occupies the space left by the extruded ovum and some attached cumulus follicle cells. The non-cumulus follicular cells and the theca ones constitute the corpus luteum, a temporary endocrine unit, which mainly produces progesterone, as to maintain pregnancy. The inherent mechanism to provoke pertinent events of corpus luteum construction is presented in the light of current research findings. Processes and possible interactions are graphically illustrated.
