摘要

The Fundamentals of Leadership Development (FLD) curriculum is designed to help surgeons develop the skills and knowledge they need to be effective leaders in a diverse environment. The curriculum is based on the following goals and visions: to increase the number of surgeons from underrepresented groups in leadership positions; to create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare environment for all patients; and to develop surgeons who are skilled in conflict resolution and negotiation while being mindful of DEI issues. The FLD curriculum is designed to be interactive and engaging. It includes a variety of learning activities, such as case studies, role-playing exercises, and group discussions. The curriculum also includes a strong focus on self-reflection and personal development and is based on the following key competencies: self-awareness, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. FLD provides the skills and knowledge that surgeons need to create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare environment for all patients. It is also relevant to other healthcare professionals who want to improve their leadership skills as the principles of DEI are applicable to any leadership role, regardless of the industry. The FLD curriculum is an important step toward creating a more inclusive and equitable healthcare environment. By providing surgeons with the skills and knowledge they need to be effective leaders, this curriculum can help to improve patient care and outcomes for all patients.
