Evaluating and Assessing Your Team

Team assessment and evaluation is critical to ensure that your team is maturing in the right direction, functioning as a unit, and has a defined purpose that is aligned with an institutional mission. To accomplish this, we will review various tools that can be used to assist in the process of evaluation and assessment. This chapter will also review what should be done prior to team assessment and evaluation, such as setting a foundation with goals and objections along with having an aligned purpose. A review of individual assessment will show why this is important prior to team assessment. Additionally, a review of the natural history of a team, according to Tuckman, will describe the various stages of the team. The chapter should give you the resources to identify where your team is, where it could go, and the tools to assess and evaluate your team to ensure that it will get there.
