Digitization in Dentistry and Dental Implantology in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

The use of digital technology in healthcare impacts dentistry and dental implantologyDental implantology as well. In high-income countries, digitization is already transforming the way dental treatments are planned and executed. However, the application in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) remains sporadic and limited to specific techniques and/or institutions. This chapter explores the current state of digitization in dentistry and dental implantologyDental implantology in LMICs, as well as the potential areas of opportunity for development in the field. While there are many potential opportunities to still be taken advantage of, digitization in dentistry and dental implantologyDental implantology in LMICs, require consistent support of infrastructure and incentivization of those opportunities for research and innovation, so that digitization can become a catalyst for transforming dental careDental care.
