摘要

The application of human transcranial magnetic stimulation should be with due consideration of potential safety concerns and risk for the participant and TMS administrator. Here we indicate general safety issues and potential risks relevant to common TMS settings, as a brief reminder or introduction to key elements, for a laboratory or desk reference. Operation of the TMS device should only occur with appropriate training, pre-reading of published safety recommendations by the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN), and local university or clinical approvals, such as an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Medical Executive Committee.
