Analyzing the Effect of Cyber Attacks on Zoned-Microgrid’s Voltage Stability

摘要

A 13-bus microgrid model with one VSI inverter and three PQ inverters serves as a case study to illustrate the zone dedication approach's effectiveness and vulnerability to cyber-attacks. In this microgrid, PQ inverters receive data through communications with measuring units at the border of their defined zone. The utilized zone dedication significantly improves the voltage profile and reduces communication links. While the amount of required communication links is very limited, it is still susceptible to cyber-attacks. Observation and detection of cyber-attacks on measurements coming from border agents is a crucial part of zone assignment and PQ involvement for improving the voltage profile. This paper assesses cyber-attacks’ impact on zone dedication approach by the method of single link failure or manipulation on the pilot bus voltages. This paper demonstrates the effect of false data injection and analyzes the possibility of instability under this attack while using zonal control approach for inverters.
