Examining the Privacy and Security of Mobile Refugee Applications
摘要
As the world is working to both recover from an unprecedented pandemic as well as deal with uncertainty and turmoil, many refugees have been forced to flee their countries because of persecution, war, or violence. This research investigates the privacy and security of free mobile applications (n = 26) for refugees that are downloaded from a third-party marketplace. In the research, the freely available applications are manually and statically analyzed with the Mobile Security Framework (MobSF), to determine security and privacy insights. The research aims to construct application security recommendations that benefit the refugee community; and to raise awareness for the community’s privacy and security.
