摘要

Malaysia is a home to many types of tropical fruit trees due to the tropical climate with high humidity. Fruit trees are planted on a commercial scale and on a small-scale. However, the current procurement systems are too rigid on consistent supply and quality standards that indirectly exclude the small-scale farmers from the supply chain. Besides that, fruits are perishable and need to be sold quickly and selling through intermediaries would cause a hike in price to consumers. This paper presents the design and development of an e-marketplace system to help small-scale farmers to sell Malaysian local fruits online. The system has essential features to support product transactions and various useful functions including bidding function, business analytics, and intelligent promotional and depletion tools to help sellers manage the fruit sales from fresh to end of shelf life. This platform would connect farmers with end consumers, allow independent farmers to effectively sell their local fruits to potential buyers and empower consumers with healthier and reasonably price choices.
