摘要

Modern structures experience various kinds of loads that influence structural integrity and safety. These loads affect the structure either directly or indirectly which affects structure's vibrational response. A structure is composed of various sub-elements, and damage in any element of the structure can cause the failure of the whole structure. Hence, timely damage detection and monitoring of the structure is essential to improve the performance of the structure. Vibration based structural health assessment can be safely used to assess the condition of a structure due to its non-destructive nature. In this study, vibration-based structural health monitoring methods have been used to study the changes in the dynamic characteristics of a two-storey shear building model in an undamaged and damaged state through loosening of the bolted connection. For the accomplishment of the objectives of the research, a two-storey shear frame structure joined with bolted connectors exposed to vibration and the dynamic properties of the structure would be obtained. Moreover, wavelet transform techniques (WTT) using continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) were used to capture damage and undamaged state of the two-storey shear frame, along with the fast Fourier transform (FFT) based signal analysis to analyse the response of the structure. The result shows the performance of the proposed WTT techniques for identifying the damages in structure.
