The Experimentation of Tactical Urbanism as a Tool for Adaptation to Climate Change. The SpaziAttivi Itinerary of the City of Brescia
摘要
Recently, traditional urban planning strategies have been related to, and often opposed by, a new approach to transformation that is widely diffused under the name Tactical Urbanism. This broad movement is an approach to problem-solving at the neighborhood scale that intervenes in public space through the involvement of citizenship, using temporary and low-cost interventions. The Municipality of Brescia is experimenting with this new approach through the “SpaziAttivi” project included in the Climate Transition Strategy, approved in 2021. This chapter aims to explain why tactical urbanism is the chosen method to strengthen knowledge, awareness, and the assumption of a co-responsibility approach to the issue of climate change adaptation and mitigation. In particular, it outlines the methodological process for the choice of areas on which to experiment the tactical urbanism also in relation to other virtuous tactical urbanism participatory processes. The choice was made through three phases that resulted in interventions in two areas out of the initial 56 proposals identified by the citizens.
