Fundamental Concepts in Medicine: Why Risk and Disease Are Likely to Stay on Board

In everyday medical language the words risk and disease are easily used. Patients and doctors discuss the cause and prognosis of a disease while at the same time consider what the risks associated different treatment options are. Arguably, both risks and diseases belong to the basic stuff in medicine; they can be seen as different approaches to the same set of health-related phenomena, even though their demaracation is challening.
