Effects of Speeds and Road Types on the Highest Dynamic Factor of the Load of the Articulated Truck

摘要

The maximum dynamic load factor (DLFmax) and the root mean square of the dynamic load factor RMS(DLF) of the vehicle highly depend on the vehicle speed and the type of road on which the vehicle is operating. If the maximum dynamic load factor of the vehicle is too large, it will cause damage to the vehicle and the road. This paper has studied the influence of speeds and road types on the maximum dynamic load factor of an articulated truck when it is driven at speeds from 30 km/h to 120 km/h, on four random asphalt layout groups A, B, C, and D on the basis of ISO 8608:2016. The result showed that the maximum dynamic load factor and the root mean square of the dynamic load factor acting on the vehicle are larger at higher speeds, and they are smaller when the road surface quality is better and vice versa. The vehicle ensures dynamic safety according to ISO 2631:2018 and VDI 2057:2017 standards if the vehicle’s maximum speed on the A-class road is 120 km/h, the B-class road is 90 km/h, the C-class road is 80 km/h and the D-class road is 60 km/h.
