A Study on Multi-objective Optimization of a Two-Stage Helical Gearbox

摘要

This paper presents the findings of a multi-objective optimization study conducted on a two-stage helical gearbox (THG) to identify the best primary design parameters to reduce the gearbox mass and cross section area. The Taguchi method and grey relation analysis (GRA) were used to solve the problem in two stages: first, the single-objective optimization problem was solved to close the gap within factor levels, and then the multi-objective optimization problem was solved to identify the best primary design factors. Furthermore, the coefficients of wheel face width (CWFW) of the first and second stages, permissible contact stresses (ACS), and gear ratio of the first stage were chosen. The optimal values for five crucial design parameters were ascertained using the study’s findings in order to construct a two-stage helical gearbox.
