Determination of Critical Flutter Wind Speed for Bluff Body Bridge Decks Using the Revised Step-by-Step Method

Due to the complexity of flutter derivatives, calculating the critical flutter wind speed for bluff body bridge deck sections is challenging. This causes difficulties in calculating the critical flutter wind speed by expressing the flutter derivatives according to interpolation polynomials. This study introduces the Revised Step-by-Step method to determine the critical flutter wind speeds of these types of bridge deck section. This method improves the prediction of oscillation and ensures accurate insights into dynamic behavior. Experimental data and numerical simulations validate the method's precision. The Revised Step-by-Step method is used to calculate critical flutter wind velocities for the Tacoma Narrows bridge model, validating its efficacy.
