A Study on the Pseudo-shakedown of Steel Plates Subjected to Repeated Slamming Pressures

摘要

This paper presents a numerical study of the pseudo-shakedown phenomenon of steel-marine plates under repeated slamming-induced pressures. The steel plates with actual scantlings used for marine vessels were analyzed. The numerical analysis model was developed using finite element software package ABAQUS/Explicit. The pseudo-shakedown phenomenon was investigated with various parameters including the material strain rate hardening, impulse profile, and peak pressure. In the simulation, the material strain hardening was defined for the plate model, and the impulsive pressures were applied uniformly over the clamped plates. Besides, a critical failure criterion was introduced to examine the pseudo-shakedown phenomenon of the repeatedly impacted plates. The results showed that the occurrence of the pseudo-shakedown phenomenon remarkably affects by the peak pressure and its profile but does not regard the material strain rate hardening. The results are expected to be useful for the design of marine structures under slamming loads.
