摘要
This chapter focuses on the area of strategic analysis. We’ll explore practices related to identifying and understanding the organization’s context. You’ll learn how a business motivation model can impact the work results of a business analyst. The chapter will explain best practices for identifying and documenting business goals and their influence on developing business needs. Additionally, we’ll delve into the principles of business process modeling and common mistakes made when creating business process models, especially using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Readers will discover what information should be included in business process documentation. The chapter will also introduce stakeholder analysis, particularly understanding stakeholders’ motivations and collaborating with them to determine business needs. Readers will also learn how to identify business needs from both business and technological contexts and how to apply root cause analysis as a source of business needs. In the final part of this chapter, we’ll discuss the identification and evaluation of solution options. We’ll explain why not every solution should be implemented and how to determine the right solution for a specific business need. Readers will also learn what should be included in solution option assessment and what factors influence developing a change strategy.
