How Can Intelligent Decision Support Systems Be Applied in Obstetrics?

The aim of this chapter is to present how the Obstetrics field has changed with the “birth” of Intelligent Decision Support Systems. We will present a little bit of history when the Decision Support Systems did not possess “intelligence” and how they metamorphosized into intelligent tools. A special interest will be paid to their important role in reading fetal morphology scans, and to the way they can predict the type of birth and so on. Theoretical and practical examples will show the impact that Intelligent Decision Support Systems have on this important field of medicine.
