摘要
The main objective of this chapter is the integration of nonconventional means and therapeutic methods in the treatment of neurodegenerative pathologies, with special emphasis on Parkinson’s disease. The chapter aims to explore the scientific support for nonconventional therapeutic exercises, addressing both motor and non-motor signs and symptoms associated with neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, it seeks to understand the effects and proper dosage of exercise for each proposed therapeutic method and agent. Key points to be addressed in the chapter include cueing, qigong, tai chi, virtual reality, obstacle gait training, exergames, body weight support training, tango, and animal-assisted therapy. Each of these approaches will be analyzed in terms of its applicability and effectiveness in the treatment of Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. The chapter will conclude with a detailed summary of key points related to Parkinson’s disease, highlighting both conventional and nonconventional methods of therapeutic exercise. This analysis will provide a comprehensive understanding of the options available to improve the quality of life of those affected by these pathologies and offer an innovative and comprehensive perspective in therapeutic approaches.
