Post-Carbon Nuclear Sensorium

“Post-Carbon Nuclear Sensorium” is an interdisciplinary research focusing on applying sensory design to “Hualong One” (a Chinese Generation III pressurized water nuclear reactor model). The proposed sensory designs interact with “Hualong One” through multiple systems, spatially and virtually, to provide the public with an embodied experience of invisible radiation and uninterpretable nuclear power plants. The research attempts to create space for a systematic review of theoretical development, conceptual definitions, and design methodologies related to sensory design and nuclear power plants, providing insights into strategies toward public acceptance of nuclear energy and carbon neutrality.
