Fractal Data Storytelling in China’s Power Sector: Integrating Designer Interaction with the Time-Space Fusion Model for Enhanced Data Narratives

In the big data era in China, utilizing data storytelling for visualization and narration has become crucial in bridging data science theory and practice. This paper discusses incorporating spatial-temporal dimensions and fractal theory into data storytelling, as applied in projects for major Chinese enterprises. Introducing a fractal data storytelling model (FDSM) that transcends traditional spatial-temporal limits, this research offers a novel approach for complex data narration. The FDSM enhances data intelligibility, memorability, and the narrative experience by integrating design into data interpretation, tested in large-scale projects within China’s electric power industry. Highlighting the model’s effectiveness in improving narrative immersion and emotional engagement, this study presents an innovative, scientifically grounded, and practical method for advancing data storytelling in China, tailored to national conditions and integrating spatial-temporal and fractal dimensions into data story construction.
